Do you feel like you can’t write your story?
You have a story to tell, but you haven’t found what works for you?
If that sounds like you, let me share with you how I went from being someone who struggled with writing to now publishing multiple stories and what finally clicked that unlocked it for me.

From Failure
Growing up, I’ve always enjoyed coming up with story ideas and exploring imaginary worlds in my mind. From seeing faces in tree trunks and imagining tree people or wielding a stick like it was a sword and facing off hordes of enemy foes. I would often dictate stories to my Mom, who would help me write them. But when it came to my own writing and the assignments I tended to be given in school, I struggled.
Being a free spirit, I often found it difficult to stay ‘within the lines’. I wanted to create in whatever way I wanted, but found that many of my assignments in early grade school required strict rules or subjects (in essays and research papers). This paired with having mild dyslexia, where I occasionally mix up the words and letters, made it more difficult to read and required extra effort. Over time, this led to writing becoming one of my least favorite subjects.
The Pivot
I continued to struggle with writing in school, up until grade 7 when something clicked. I was given a creative writing assignment in one of my classes and was allowed free reign to write whatever I wanted within a general subject area. This memory stands out to me, because this was the first time in a long time that I enjoyed writing. I powered through the first draft in a single sitting! It still had issues with the spelling and sentence structure, but it was my story.
With this newly kindled fire to write and the help of some really kind people in after-school tutoring to help me with my grammar and spelling, I ended up turning one of my lowest grades in school to one of my highest. I then wrote multiple mini stories on my own time, doing something that I previously found very difficult or laboursome.
My Mistake
Why am I telling you this story?
I’m sharing this with you because growing up, I didn’t think I was a writer. I struggled with it and objectively my writing wasn’t very good when it came to structure and spelling. But I wanted to tell stories, and with a little help from others and a creative writing framework, it turned one of my worst subjects to one of my best.
I know that there are people who are listening to this right now that are on the fence of whether or not they can write. I didn’t think I could, and even more I didn’t want to.
But now I’ve had multiple stories published and I’m working on the 3rd draft of my fantasy novel. Given the right creative medium and framework, I’ve unlocked something that I never really knew I was capable of.
Maybe you aren’t sure how to find what kind of stories you want to write, or maybe you don’t know what different writing processes look like to get your story going.
I’m here to help.
It’s taken me many years to get in a groove with my writing, but now that I have I’m able to let stories flow out of me in the way I imagine them, and share with other aspiring writers on how.
