I’m happy to announce something I’ve been working on behind the scenes, ChronoPath Compass!
What is it?
ChronoPath Compass is a free online tool that I’ve built to help writers break large word count goals into smaller, realistic milestones along with giving you the tools to track your writing to find what works best for you. This then helps writers stay motivated and efficient to actually finish your stories.
I talked about it briefly in the last newsletter, but for me I found a large number word count goal intimidating to the point that I wouldn’t try (i.e. 50,000 words in 30 days). I built this tool to help my fellow writers who like to break down large goals into something that feels more achievable and to give a way to see how you’re progressing over time.
It’s also taken me a good deal of time to find what times of day, or days of the week, I write best in. This tool will help you keep track of your writing habits and identify what works best for your schedule!
It is worth noting that this tool is not for everyone, and that’s okay! I’m very much a plotter/planner, and I like to track my progression over time . At the end of the day, however you go about writing your story, a finished story is a finished story.

What does it do?
Some of the features include:
- Plan your writing sessions in a way that makes big goals feel manageable, so you see steady progress instead of getting stuck staring at the total word count.
- Adjust your plan with real life in mind (blackout dates, shifting target dates, or planning week by week), without guilt if you miss a day (no streaks, just steps of progress towards your goal)
- Evaluate by using the timer and stopwatch to find out your natural pace (WPM/WPH) and learn what times of day give you the best results.
- Built with data privacy in mind, as it does not track or collect any personal information or manuscript data. You can save locally on your computer or phone so you have total control of your data.
- Share your progress with a easy to share snapshot so people can cheer you on as you progress towards your goal!

- It has Dark Mode! (button, top right)

If people find this helpful, there are a number of ways I could grow it into other functionalities. This is currently in a public beta, so do let me know if you run into any issues (there’s a form on the page, or you can DM me on socials).
Where is it?
Try it out by going to https://chronopath.creativewritingwizard.com/ It takes a few seconds to get going with it (from either computer or your mobile device) and updates dynamically as you input your values!
