From behind a group of large rocks, a small rabbit crept out from hiding. The sound of marching troops passed as it slowly surveyed the area. It had been several minutes since this small creature had wandered into the fae realm, quite on accident.
Turning left and right, the little furry rabbit looked frantically for the portal it had stepped through moments ago. It didn’t mean to pass into the fae realm, but with the juicy radishes sitting in view just past the barrier, it was too much to resist.
Squeak! A sound behind it… or more accurately, above it. Looking up and behind, the rabbit saw a portal floating a few feet above the ground. On the other side of the portal, the rabbit saw its sibling who had watched it jump through.
How would it get out? The portal was too high for it to jump out. In despair, the little rabbit slumped to its hind legs as the thought of being stuck in the fae realm set in.
No! It couldn’t leave its sibling alone, it had to find a way out. Taking a calming breath, it took in the area again. This time, the rabbit noticed that there were several rocks around the area just below the portal. If it jumped just right…
The sound of marching troops grew louder. There wasn’t any time. Lining itself up with the first small rock, the little rabbit jumped. From one rock to another just slightly above it, the rabbit lept. After a series of small hops, it took a final leap and launched itself desperately towards the portal. Time slowed. The rabbit flew through the air, hoping its trajectory was correct
Its paws found purchase on the edge of the green grass that poked through the portal. Pulling itself up, with some help from its sibling, the tiny rabbit climbed back into its normal plane of existence. Turning, the rabbit took a final look at the height it had cleared. The portal sputtered and closed as the rabbit siblings ran home to tell their family of their little adventure.
